What does “rizz” mean?
Rizz is slang for charm, charisma, or flirting skill — the ability to attract a romantic interest. If someone has “good rizz,” they’re smooth, confident, and appealing when they flirt. It works as both a noun (“he’s got rizz”) and a verb (“she rizzed him up”).
Where “rizz” comes from
The term is widely credited to streamer Kai Cenat, who popularized it around 2021–2022, and it’s generally understood as a clipping of the middle of the word charisma (cha-riz-ma). It spread fast across TikTok and was named Oxford’s Word of the Year in 2023.
”Unspoken rizz” and other variations
- Unspoken rizz — attracting someone with zero words, on presence alone.
- Rizz up — the verb form: to charm or flirt with someone.
- W rizz / L rizz — a win or a loss at flirting (“W” = win, “L” = loss).
Using it in a sentence
- “He’s got serious rizz.”
- “She rizzed him up at the party.”
- “That was pure unspoken rizz.”
In short: rizz is the modern word for game — the charm that gets you the date in the first place.
